About Us

The departmental of Industrial Engineering was established during the year 2010. The curriculum covers all the aspects of Mechanical, Production and Industrial Engineering and also suitably revised to cater the needs of latest developments and advances in Industrial Engineering. The Department has well equipped state-of-the-art Laboratories namely Work Shop, Machine Shop, Foundry Shop, Industrial Engineering, Simulation, Thermal Engineering, Heat Transfer, Computer Aided Manufacturing and Computer Aided Design Laboratories.

Scope of Industrial Engineering

Industrial engineering is a branch of engineering that concerns the development, improvement, implementation and evaluation of integrated systems of people, money, knowledge, information, equipment, energy, material and process. Industrial engineering draws upon the principles and methods of engineering analysis and synthesis, as well as mathematical, physical and social sciences together with the principles and methods of engineering analysis and design to specify, predict and evaluate the results to be obtained from such systems. In lean manufacturing systems, Industrial engineers work to eliminate wastes of time, money, materials, energy, and other resources. Depending on the sub-speciality(ies) involved, industrial engineering may also be known as operations management, management science, operations research, systems engineering, manufacturing engineering or ergonomics and human factors engineering / safety engineering, usually depending on the viewpoint or motives of the user. Industrial Engineers aim at higher productivity by adopting integrated design, and efficient planning and operative systems. The work involves the design and installation of integrated systems for men and materials, equipment and processes for increasing the productivity of goods, and detailing the optimum quality, which is economically viable. These engineers are concerned with planning, measuring and controlling all activities within the organization, besides designing the production process for a product.

Because of the broad based nature of the course, Industrial Engineers can work with all types of engineering and manufacturing industries in the private and public sectors. All manufacturing and engineering companies offer jobs to Industrial engineers. TATA (all sectors, Motors, Steel, Communications..etc), Reliance Industries ltd., Maruti Udyog, and thousands of other companies in India including TCS, Infosys, Wipro Including Government originations like Railway, BSNL, ONGC, ISRO and DRDO to name a few.
