The Department of English plays a unique role in the university where the ethos of technology prevails. It is believed that a complete science and technology education must include language and humanities where the students learn to unite application of scientific principles with human values and understanding. The department makes every effort to help students become confident and competent in communication skills and soft skills. The department provides a practical thrust and humane touch in the teaching-learning process enabling students to cultivate a holistic understanding of socioeconomic reality and the role of technology for sustainable development. In addition to the regular courses, the department offers a value added course in Business English (BEC) in association with the British Council/Cambridge University Press and Cambridge University. The department offers training in personality development, non-technical employability skills, and verbal ability for competitive exams to prepare students for successful careers. The department keeps pace with the recent developments in teaching methodologies and material generation through active interaction with peers and experts. The highly experienced faculty are active in the circuit of conferences/seminars/workshops. They present/publish quality research papers. Members of the faculty are also invited as resource persons/plenary speakers to reputed institutions. They are members of various professional bodies, editorial boards of journals and Board of Studies.
