Aerospace engineering is a fascinating subject for many young engineers and scientists. From the dynamics of flying an airplane to the conquest of space by rockets and reusable space vehicles, aerospace engineering throws challenges to the brilliant young minds who join this stream of engineering.
The aerospace department at GITAM provides excellent academic environment to the UG students to excel. The department has excellent faculty, experimental and computation facilities and a high quality sub-sonic wind tunnel for aerodynamic experiments and research capabilities.
The curriculum is designed to mould students in various disciplines such as aerodynamics, flight mechanics, aircraft structures, aircraft and rocket propulsion and systems. The students undergo rigorous classroom and laboratory training on both experimental and computational methods pertaining to airframe design, wind tunnel testing, computational dynamics, engine design and testing and flight-testing of new vehicles.
Career opportunities and higher studies both within India and overseas is encouraging. The department has collaboration with research establishments and industries that provide our students with industrial internship and future placement opportunities. The Department continuously strives to maintain a high standard of teaching and mentors the students to get campus placements in many companies such as Tech Mahindra, Tata Advanced Systems Limited, Cyient, AST and UTC Aerospace system.
